What are the signs of hearing loss?

Some signs of hearing loss include difficulty hearing in groups, misunderstanding words in a conversation, having to raise the volume on the TV/ phone and much more. We encourage everyone to do a hearing test just to have a baseline for future comparison.

Is there any government rebate/funding for hearing aids?

Any Ontario resident with OHIP is eligible for a hearing aid funding of $500 per ear and this can be renewed every 5 years. There are also other government agencies and private insurance that may cover additional costs.

Do I need to have a hearing test done before getting hearing aids?

Are hearing tests covered by OHIP? What if I don’t have OHIP?

Hearing test is complementary but if any other further documentation is required there will be a charge.

Do I need a referral for a hearing test? A referral is not mandatory.

Can I use my old report from before? Yes, a hearing test is required since we need a baseline to properly fit the hearing aids. We can use your previous results as long as it is under one year.

Are hearing aids refundable?

Yes, we have a 31 day trial period and we are able to extend the trial if necessary.

What if I accidentally lose a hearing aid?

All hearing aids do have a loss and damage coverage and there is a deductible depending on each brand.

Where can I buy hearing aid batteries and accessories?

Hearing aid batteries/accessories are sold at Meta Hearing. If you are looking for anything specific feel free to contact us via email or phone.

I have mild-moderate hearing loss, should I get hearing aids now or wait?

Leaving hearing loss untreated will increase chances of dementia and affect your cognitive ability in the long run. It will also affect your relationship with your loved ones. Our clinic has complementary demos where you can try on our hearing aids.

What if I cannot afford hearing aids?

There are government programs that help residents that are not financially able to get hearing aids. Our clinicians can guide you to the appropriate agency for additional funding.

Why are hearing aids so expensive?

Every manufacturer has a team of professionals that strives to improve the quality of hearing aids. Each year they make them more advanced and the success rate of long term wearers have increased in the past years. When hearing aids are purchased with us, you will have a 5 year complementary servinging plan which is the longest servicing period in our industry. There are different hearing aid technology levels which can affect the price. Our hearing team will find the most appropriate hearing aid for your daily listening needs.

I have a family/friend that is unable to travel outside their home. Do you offer home visits?

We believe everyone deserves to get treated for hearing loss. If you or someone that you know requires our service please contact us through the phone or email and we will make an arrangement for an appointment.
